Spinning Monster Card

This card was surprising easy to make. I adapted the instructions from Deb Valder.

Supplies:
***I used the card bases and envelopes from Recollections that are 5 1/2 by 4 inches. The measurements will work for the Close to my Heart card bases but you will have a little more white space at the top and bottom of your card.

Colonial white card stock: 4 1/2 by 2 inches; scrap that is about by inches
Seaside bulk paper (or the dotted patterned paper): 4 3/4 by 2 1/4; 5 1/2 by 3
Sunset Chevron washi tape: about 5 1/2 inches long
Ink pads: pear, lagoon, smoothie
White shimmer trim
Shin Han marker: Cherry pink color to change the color of the white shimmer trim
Pop dot
Acetate
Scissors
Twine: about 8 inches long
Adhesive
Liquid glass
Brad: one
Buttons: two similar buttons
Poker tool
Card base and envelope

1. On colonial white card stock (4 1/2 by 2 inches) the three monsters from the stamp set from Close
to my Heart. I used pear, lagoon, and smoothie ink.

2. Stamp the middle monster two more times on a piece of scrap colonial white card stock approximately 13/4 by 1 3/4 inches. Cut these out. I used lagoon ink.

3. Using black ink stamp sentiment centered under the three monsters on the colonial white card stock that is 4 1/2 by 2 inches. I stamped the sentiment that says, "I could squish you."

4. Cut out two circles in the acetate that are about 1/2 inche. You can use your Cricut to cut a 1/2 inch circle in scrap cardstock to trace, free cut, freehand draw a circle, or use a punch. You won't see these circles so it doesn't really matter.

5. Place one of the cut out monsters on top of the middle monster from step 1. Using the poker tool (I'm sure this tool has a name but I always call it the poker tool), pierce a hole into the two monsters so they will line up once you attach the brad through all of the pieces. I poked the hole just under the eye.

6. Using adhesive, attach one acetate circle on top of the middle monster from step 1.

7. Do not use adhesive and place the other acetate circle on top of the acetate circle that is attached to the monster. Do not use adhesive - the spinning works because there is no adhesive between the acetate circles.

8. Put a pop dot on the acetate circle. The pop dot has self adhesive that will allow it to stick to the acetate circle. Make sure the top of the pop dot has the adhesive exposed. Put the twine (about 8 inches long) onto the pop dot. The twine should be hanging straight down.

9. Now attach the cut out monster with the hole poked through it onto the pop dot. To repeat the layers from top to bottom: monster with hole poked through it, twine, pop dot, acetate, (no adhesive), acetate, monster on the rectangular cardstock with the two other monsters.

10. Poke a hole through all of the layers (the monster sandwich). Attach brad through monster sandwich. Pull the twine to make sure the monster spins well. Loosen the brad if needed. Using adhesive, attach second cut out monster without a hole through it right on top of first cut out monster to hide the brad.

11. Using adhesive, attach the colonial white piece that is 4 1/2 by 2 inches to the Seaside polka dot patterned paper that is 4 3/4 by 2 1/4.

12. On the card base, with the fold at the top, place sunset chevron washi tape at bottom of card about 1/8 inch from the bottom.

13. Attach the 5 1/2 by 3 inch blue wood Seaside patterned paper onto card base about 1/8 inch from the top. Color the white shimmer trim with the Shin Han marker. Place this onto the seaside paper and smoothie washi tape.

14. Attach the three monsters centered on the blue wood Seaside patterned paper. Glues the buttons to the end of the pull cord (the twine). Wrap the twine around the pop dot so it is ready to pull. Pull it to test it. Enjoy your adorable card.

Baby Wipe Technique

This card exhibits the baby wipe technique (AKA puddle pad technique). I have used the new Wanderful paper with Flaxen cardstock. The stamp set is Fall Harvest with Lagoon, Honey, and Smokey Plum re-inkers.

Splatter Card

Card for September card club. This card uses the splatter technique with sponge daubers and re-inker. I have used lagoon, smokey plum, and honey re-inkers with the Laughing Lola and Avonlea retired Close to my Heart papers. The stamps are Sweet as Sugar (Hostess Rewards stamp set) and Frightfully Fun. I masked the containers to fit in the Halloween Creatures (as created by Mischelle Smith).

Home Decor

White Colonial Frame from Close to My Heart.

No more standing at the fridge trying to decide what to make for supper. On the backs of the menu items, I printed an ingredient list to make grocery shopping easy.

Christmas Card Class

I used the Christmas paper pack in the new mini catalogue, shimmer trim, buttons, various Christmas stamps, ribbon, and the first page of the paper pack from the Christmas paper in the main catalgoue. We will make 5 of each of the above cards for a total of 20 cards. The class will include 20 - 5 by 7 card bases, envelopes, and all of the supplies needed with the exception of adhesive (that you supply). I will have all of the paper cut and organized so hopefully we can finish all of the cards in 3 hours. The class will be in November (early in the month so you can get the cards in the mail). The fee for the class will be $35. Let me know if you are interested. For those of you in my card club, check your email for a special discount.

CTMH Frame Workshop on the Go

I love doing the CTMH Workshops on the Go. I have been slowly collecting them but haven't had a chance to try one out. A few weekends ago I spent all of my free time completing my Workshop on the Go projects. This one took about an hour and a half from start to finish. It was very easy and I am so happy with how it turned out. Now I just need to print some photos to add....

Card Challenge #1

The first card challenge was emailed to card club participants. Here are pictures of the samples.

This picture demonstrates how a card template can be modified to create a scrapbook page. I shifted the long rectangular strips of paper to the left to make room for two 4 x 6 photos. The paper is Avonlea with Smokey Plum cardstock.

This is more similar to the original sketch but it is shifted horizontally. Shown with Later Sk8r paper and Pear, Lagoon, and Daisy White cardstock.

June Card Club Projects

These are the cards for June. The Father's Day card is made using Later Sk8r paper and Lagoon and Pear inks. The Thanks a bunch card uses the stamp of the month for June, Chantilly paper, and Twilight, Pear, and Black ink. Alcohol ink markers and glitter gel were also used.
